Montessori: 100 Years in Excellence

Approximately 1200 Montessori educators from 55 countries gathered in Rome early January for the first of the celebrations honoring the 100th anniversary of the first Montessori School.

The scene will repeat itself again in March when more than 4000 Montessori Educators will gather in New York City to continue the celebrations with a host of prominent speakers that include Maya Angelou a Montessori Parent and Craig Kielberger, a former Montessori Student, Founder of Kids Can Free The Children and the youngest person ever to be nominated for a Noble Peace Prize.

Visitors attending will also be able to observe the Montessori Model UN events at the General Assembly where Montessori Students from Participating schools in USA, Canada, Mexico, Bahamas and Puerto Rico will be conducting a realistic simulation and meeting with international Ambassadors and high profile UN Dignitaries.

The Montessori approach to education is poised for even greater growth over the next 100 years with many new schools under development and in the planning stages. Additionally many existing schools are expanding and adding grade levels through high school.
